The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and this sacred place is visited by thousands of devotees every year. Well, there’s a story behind the establishment of the temple. It is said that Madhav Reddy, a committed devotee of Lord Venkateswara used to visit the very renowned Tirupati temple every year but after having some health issues he had to stop his regular habit of visiting the temple.

Lord Venkateswara got really impressed by his devotion, appeared to him and told him to get an idol of the deity, together with Bhoodevi and Sridevi and build a temple. The opening time of the temple is 6:00 am and people can involve in continuous darshan till 8:00 pm. This is the best thing about visiting the temple that a person doesn’t have to wait for the darshan of Lord Balaji and you can have darshan anytime during this time slot. Poojas and archanas are offered from 6:30 am in the morning and again from 6:30 pm in the evening. Aarti is done from 7:00 am in the morning and again from 7:00 pm in the evening. You’ll always see the deity dressed up in handloom clothes. Another best thing about the visit is that you don’t have to pay anything for the entry, it is absolutely free and devotes can perform archanas anything during the day. There are a number of people who do 11 or 108 pradhakshanas. In fact, the flower distribution and Prasad distribution is also performed by the volunteers who are actually the devotees visited the temple.

How to reach the temple?

Well, the temple is basically situated in the heart of the city and there’s a great network of communication through buses from Mehdipatnam. The Chilkur temple is located near Osman Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, Telangana. Frequent bus services from Mehdipatnam to Chilkur Balaji are available and it takes around 40 minutes to reach the temple.
