Ask me where I would love to spend a peaceful weekend and I will say with nature, without the blink of an eye. So today, we will review some of the amazing National Parks in Karnataka.

Well, that’s true, to me the lush carpet of spongy grass, beautiful chirping birds, and wildlife is more welcome than the luxurious hotel rooms. And when it is about rich flora and fauna, thick jungles, and greenery one cannot miss mentioning the beautiful Karnataka, which is the land to some amazing national parks.

These national parks not only attract avid nature lovers like me but also let all those wildlife fanatics and adventure lovers to come over and try out any of these mind-blowing places for a wonderful experience.

Best National Parks in Karnataka

Banerghatta National Park

Get down at Bangalore City Railways station and head towards your this mind-blowing and one of the most known national parks located just 23km from there.

Banerghatta national park is spread across a large area of 25,000 acres and provides you with an ample number of things like a children’s park, butterfly park, museum, butterfly park, crocodile park, aquarium, zoo, snake park, safari park, and a nature reserve.

Once there, you should not miss visiting the Grand Safari i.e. an hour-long safari and lets you witness white tigers, Bengal tigers, lions, and leopards.

You can even try out the elephant safari and the arrangements are made inside the premises only. You can visit this national park any day from Wednesday to Monday (except Sunday) from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Bandipur National Park

Another amazing national park, that got started in 1974 as a huge tiger reserve and was established under the Project Tiger of Government of India.

The national park was once a favorite spot for hunting for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore.

Bandipur National Park is around 204km from the city of Bangalore, which is spread across 874sq.km and has 69sq.miles of the secured forest land. Once there, you can witness a large number of animals out there like Indian Elephants, Gaur, Dung Beetles, Vipers, and Tigers.

People usually pay a visit to this beautiful reserve forest for different activities like species monitoring, education, research work, and habitat management. One can even do the online reservation in order to indulge in any of these activities.

In fact, you can even take a room on rent and spend a night over there. Bandipur National Park remains open on all the days from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Nagarhole National Park

Here comes, one of the most important national parks in Karnataka that gained this status of national park back in 1988 and was considered the 37th Project Tiger Reserve in 1999.

Well, the national park is a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, however, those who really love to know more and more about the wildlife visit the place to see the rich forest cover, waterfalls, valleys, hills, streams, and beautiful hills.

Another interesting thing about this national park is that inside the premises, there’s Kabini River where you can enjoy coracle boat riding. Once there, you will be amazed to see such a wide variety of wildlife that includes sloth bears, hyenas, wild dogs, bears, leopards, elephants, sambar deers, and many others.

Also, you can get a chance to sport more than 250 species of birds out there at Nagarhole National Park. The place remains open for you all from Monday to Sunday and you can pay a visit any time from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Anshi National Park

Yet another mind-blowing national park that is situated around 509km from the Bangalore city and is spread across 340sq.km.

Before this national park actually earned its name, the place was a part of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary. Since this national park sits in the eco-sensitive area of the Western Ghats, the national park is awarded one of the reputable statuses of Project Tiger Sanctuary in January 2007.

Besides a great variety of reptiles, flora, fauna, and mammals, you’ll get to see some important animal species like Malabar Giant Squirrel, deer, Indian Bison, Bonnet Macaque, and sloth bear.

Also, Anshi national park is home to 157 species of birds, thus it can be a perfect place for those who love bird watching. And did I mention that Anshi National Park is one of the best and hidden gems of Karnataka? And you should not miss visiting this gorgeous place, especially during springtime.

Mudumalai National Park

Well, talking about this beautiful national park, a major part of the park is in Tamil Nadu but also shares its boundaries with Karnataka and Kerala.

Mudumalai National Park is situated in the northeast region of Nilgiris, spread across an area of 321sq.km is known as of the renowned national parks in Karnataka.

Once there, you can give yourself a chance to witness a huge variety of endangered species like long-billed and White-rumped vultures, Indian leopards, elephants, and Bengal Tigers.

You can plan to pay a visit to this superb national park on any day you feel like from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Kudremukh National Park

Before I start talking about this another top national park in Karnataka, let me inform you that this one is the 2nd largest wildlife protected area in the Western Ghats.

The national park is around 350km from the city of Bangalore and its lush green hilly terrain is spread across 600 sq. miles. What made me fall in love with this stupendous national park is its beauty and an ample number of species of animals and plants.

You can get a chance to witness Sambar, porcupine, sloth bear, Bengal tiger, lion-tailed macaque, and many others.

Talking about the plants, the national park is lucky to have mainly evergreen and semi-evergreen forests. One more thing, the hilly terrains of the national park allows you to go on a trek, thus the place can be a perfect option for the trekkers out there.
