Prashar Lake Trek – A Weekend Gem in Himachal

You all must have seen a group of friends making a plan to go on a trek or in some cases, traveling solo. But this one is just the ideal example of a perfect family trek in Himachal.

Prashar Lake trek in the Kullu Valley is surely the prettiest weekend trek out there. The trek, which is at a height of 2,730m, is one of the happy-go-lucky places that takes you through the charming pathways crossing the forests and different small streams, and also the lake becomes frozen during winters but a remarkable beauty during the rest of the months.

This picture-picture blue water lake called Prashar is surrounded by the Dhauladhar ranges in Kullu and is definitely a hidden gem in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

Prashar Lake Trek – Travel Guide

Day 1: Panarsa to Prashar Lake

Trek to Prashar Lake is of mere 2 days and you’ll be starting your day by reaching Panarsa, which is 60km far from Mandi towards Kasol. Once you reach there, check-in to your hotel or homestay and take some rest.

Have a good breakfast and then head towards Jwalapur Village by taking a sharing cab where the total distance covered is 25km. After this, you’ll start the trek to Prashar Lake that is about 8km. Also, if possible you can take some packed lunch for the way or it can be done near the waterfall.

 An important point to note: the major part of the trek will take you through lush green forests, along a stream with a number of waterfalls.

As soon as you reach the top, you’ll witness the mesmerizing Alpine meadows and the gorgeous lake on your left. Also, you’ll get a chance to visit the Prashar Rishi Temple that is known for its brilliant architectural design, pay your gratitude and make wishes to the god.

In addition to that spend some quality time at the lake and take some worthy pictures of Himalayan Silhouette during sunset.

While trekking you also need to think about your hungry bellies, so try out some local dhabba’s and shops out there and say bye to all your tiredness by having a cup of hot tea.

At night, you can indulge with your group or companion in a bonfire party, have some snacks and dinner, and take your beauty sleep under the starry sky.

Panarsa to Prashar Lake _

Day 2: Prashar Lake to Panarsa

Get ready to experience the majestic 360ᵒ views of the mighty Himalayas and take out your camera to capture some pictures to recall the memories afterward as well. These hills are the spots from where you can crystal clear shots of Himalayan ranges.

Appreciate the sheer beauty of snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges, Bada Bhangal on the West, Deo Tibba in the East, and the Great Himalayan National Park.

Prashar Lake to Panarsa_

Additionally, you can have a healthy breakfast at the lake and then trek back to Jwalapur Village, which covers a total distance of 8km. From there you can hire a taxi, in order to arrive back at Panarsa. Have lunch at your Panarsa’s hotel or homestay and then head towards your final destination (home).
